I just remembered my blog password a minute ago and thought I would write some junk...after seeing Sibo's beautiful prom advice I thought I might share my own thoughts on the whole prom "thing"

well...I am going to Prom with Maggie, mainly because she asked and being the nice guy I am, I'm not going to turn down someone I barely know like Sibo did last year, even though Amanda asked me too, and I said I would think about it...haha...but I would've gone if she hadn't found whats his face...but anyways...I am going to Prom with Maggie cause im not an evil guy like Sibo...but being that I have said a total of maybe 6.3 words to Maggie...being that articles aren't necessarily full words in my mind, I need to know what all I should do...Im not one of those people who get into dances and junk...when I go I act all weird and dance with people and attempt to whore myself, but being that I don't know maggie, I don't think I should go all out in the preparations...Tuxes and Cosages are expensive and I currently only have 12 dollars and 62 cents in my pocket. and most of that I plan to spend on food, gas, and air hockey. I am still not sure if I am buying the 15 dollar ticket or not, but Im sure I can get that money from my parents if necessary. I was hoping that being that Signature is a school open to new ideas that the formal dress code common to Proms could be withdrawn and I could just go in shorts and t-shirt or perhaps naked in hopes that others may follow in my doing so...but that does not appear to be the case so I believe I will either wear my debate suit and a vest and bowtie or some such from goodwill or salvation army, or just go straight up debate style...I still have not decided...well anyways...those are my thoughts on prom...I would appreciate any advice or wardrobe tips or information on tux sales and bargains...ya know elliotogozoto@hotmail.com or elliotogozoto@netscape.net or talk to me on aim ElliotoGozoto

prom advice

This year, my junior year, is my first year going to prom. I was offered a "date as friends" last year with some senior I barely knew and didn't think I'd have much fun with...yeah, I decided to wait to this year. But looking back, maybe I should have taken Amanda Kleinmen's offer, because I sure could have used practice for this milestone known as "prom."

Tonight I learned a little about prom ritual- the corsage. Guys are supposed to buy their dates a bouquet of flowers that is strapped to their arm by a fancy ribbon. A corsage costs at least $10 and the flowers die by the end of the evening. What a waste.

But here's some good corsage advice:

First, let's tackle your decision on corsage style. Franky, most girls prefer a wrist corsage. They don't have to worry about getting stabbed or squashing the corsage when they dance. Also, with many of today's strapless, form-fitting, or spaghetti-strap dresses, there's simply no room for the traditional pin-on one. You can ask your date about her preference, but chances are she'll choose a wrist corsage.

Your next decision is on flowers. Roses and carnations are the traditional corsage flowers, but roses are a much more romantic choice for prom. The best colors for the flowers are either white or red. It is best if you choose a corsage with two flowers. This creates a "balanced" corsage, plus too many flowers can make the corsage look like a whole bunch of greenery. (Not the look you're going for, trust me!)

Now, you must choose a ribbon for the corsage. This is when co-ordinating with your date is KEY! You must know her dress color (and specifically) when you select the ribbon. The ribbon must match. If you don't want to ask her about her dress color (or she wants to surprise you,) then ask one of her friends. They will be glad to find out for you, and chances are they already know. When your corsage matches her dress perfectly, she'll be thrilled and surprised. The extra work here will definately be worth it.
